The Name Game

So the question I have started asking myself is, do I care if other people don't like my baby name?  I'm not sure what that answer is.  I put my top 2 baby girl names on thebump.com and they didn't get great reviews from my fellow mommies-to-be.  In fact, both names only had about a 25% approval rating.  Wow!  It was certainly eye-opening.  I guess I assumed that since I liked them, others would too.  I guess I was wrong. 

I also love 'y's, hence my son's name Tyler.  Most of my girl names have a y in it, or I've substituted a y in.  It's just a personal preference, but man do I get drilled for that on the baby boards ::yikes::  So now I come back to that original question, do I care??  I guess when I figure that out, I'll be able to commit to a name. 

Why are girl names so difficult?!  Plus, this is just choosing a first name...and middle names...oh Lord...that's a whole other struggle.  My hubby and I have agreed we want to use a family name on my side for the middle name, since we used one from his side for Ty.  But man...the pickings are slim!  My grandmas' names were Ruth Kaye and Gertrude Florence...yikes!  A close aunt that just passed is named Gretchen Anne (I do like Anne though), my best friend who passed away when we were 15 was Jessica Lorraine, and my grandpa's middle name was Loring.  With all that info, we have come up with a million possible middle names, but none I really "love" or that really "go" with my first names.  ::sigh::  I know I don't need to decide now, I'm only halfway done being pg.  But, I really loved when we finally named Tyler, so I could call him by name, get personalized stuff and just really commit to that name before he was born.  So...I'm picking a name.  Now if only I could decide HOW I will decide.
