The Middle Name Game

Hubby and I always wanted to have middle names be family names, which is why Ty's middle name is my hubby's late father.  That was also the plan with this baby.  When we thought it was a boy...it was an easy choice...middle name will be my Dad's name, Thomas.  With the surprise, it's a girl thing...we had to start off at square one for both first and middle names.  Although the response has been mixed on our first name, we are committed, and we love Brynleigh, weird spelling and all.  So all you Y haters...get over it!!!!  We're shrugging off all the "oh that's different" or "how do you spell it again" or "where did you hear that one" comments.  Our little girl will be Bryn.  That's that.

Now onto middle names.  ::sigh:: After said "haters" give their most pleasant yet fake "oh, great" comment about our first name, they look hopefully at me and probably secretly pray our middle name will be "normal" and save their sanity.  To which I reply...we aren't quite sure yet what her middle name will be.  And they look equally scared...probably thinking "oh God, what could they come up with next".  So goes the name game, take 2. 

Here are the top contenders (feel free to weigh in...and NO we aren't open to changing the first name so don't ask :) )

Anne - after my late aunt who was very important to me...however, she changed her middle name to her maiden name when she got married over 50 years ago...so does this mean it loses it's "effect" being named "after" her??
Kaye - after my maternal Grandma
Katherine - see above (long story why she had two middle names)
Loring - this was my Grandpa's middle name (yes a man!) but I like it.  It was in the running for a first name
Lynn- my middle name, and that of my MIL
Lorraine - after my late BFF from HS, but it's low on the list since Bryn's first name is already so long.  We were leaning towards shorter middle name.

We are also trying to stay on my side of the family, since Ty was named after my hubby's side...but since my first name choices were Gertrude, Ruth, Gretchen, and Pam...well...we're at a loss.  Wish us luck!
