Double Digits ~ Ten Weeks!

Lovebugs Stats:
Though he's barely the size of a kumquat — a little over an inch or so long, crown to bottom — and weighs less than a quarter of an ounce, your baby has now completed the most critical portion of his development. This is the beginning of the so-called fetal period, a time when the tissues and organs in his body rapidly grow and mature.

He's swallowing fluid and kicking up a storm. Vital organs — including his kidneys, intestines, brain, and liver (now making red blood cells in place of the disappearing yolk sac) — are in place and starting to function, though they'll continue to develop throughout your pregnancy.

If you could take a
peek inside your womb, you'd spot minute details, like tiny nails forming on fingers and toes (no more webbing) and peach-fuzz hair beginning to grow on tender skin.

In other developments: Your baby's limbs can bend now. His hands are flexed at the wrist and meet over his heart, and his feet may be long enough to meet in front of his body. The outline of his spine is clearly visible through translucent skin, and spinal nerves are beginning to stretch out from his spinal cord. Your baby's forehead temporarily bulges with his developing brain and sits very high on his head, which measures half the length of his body. From crown to rump, he's about 1 1/4 inches long. In the coming weeks, your baby will again
double in size — to nearly 3 inches.

Mommy's Stats:
How far along?: 10 weeks- yeah I get to type 2 numbers!
Weight gain/loss: My bloat went down a lot this week, and I have actually been able to workout (small miracle).  But...I definitely wake up with a bump these days...so I think showing earlier with your second is not a myth (unfortunately!).  As far as weight goes...I'm deathly afraid to get on that scale...so I won't.
Symptoms:  EXHAUSTION and burping are my problems this week.  I go to bed between 9-10pm and I'm so exhausted by the end of a workday that I often times yawn while I teach (very pleasant for those students I bet).  I also burp, and sometimes throw up in my mouth a little.  Yes...it's nasty!
Maternity clothes?: Have searched my closet for my "just a size up" clothing from the last pregnancy, and those have sustained me through these intermediate days.  I tried on maternity pants and they fell right off.  So...thank God for already having fluctuated in sized from little man T and the bella band ain't bad either.  :)
Stretch marks?: nope. Moisturizing like crazy!
Sleep:  restless and the dreams...whoa!
Best moment this week: hitting 10 weeks which = NO MORE PROGESTERONE (sorry Mom!)
Food cravings: nada.  I'm back to graze-eating.  Eating small things all day long just to keep my energy up and keep myself from puking.  I have been using hard candy to fight through my nausea, and soup seems to go down the easiest.  I am also eating cheese-its a lot.
Gender: My best friend who is 10 weeks ahead of me found out she's having her second boy in Feb, so that got my wheels turning for sure.  Will I be happy either way?  Yes!  Do I wonder what it will be like to have either? Yes!  Seems like the wait to find out is forever away though :(
Belly button in or out?: in, should stay that way. I should think about changing out my belly ring though.
Movement?: I know it's too early, logically, but sometimes when I lay still on my left side I swear I feel popping.  I heard you can feel movement much earlier with your 2nd, but 10 weeks...be realisitic.  It's a prune for God's sake!
Signs of Labor: Well I hope not!
What I miss?: Stupid but true...COFFEE.  I wasn't planning on giving up my 1 cup a day...but it just doesn't sound appealing to me these days :( :(  If you know me...coffee is an obsession of mine...especially during the holiday season (pumpkin spice lattes, egg nog lattes, gingerbread lattes...mmmmmm).  I just don't enjoy it (sigh!).
What I'm looking forward to: 2nd tri.  Those ladies on the 2nd tri boards are a whoot.  I also can't wait for movement, so I can feel connected to this baby.
Weekly Wisdom: When someone recommended jolly ranchers as a way to curb nausea...they were geniuses!
Weekly WTF: Shivering and maintaining body temperature has become a thing of the past.  I'm cold...I'm hot...I'm cold.  What is with that???
Milestones: NO MORE PROGESTERONE!  Thank the lord!  I'm so over it!
